Restaurierung in Friedenweiler 2010
St. Johannes Baptist in Friedenweiler
Friedenweiler, with its 12-th century former monastery, stands at around 1,000 metres above sea level between Freiburg and Donaueschingen.
The church was rebuilt in barock style was built in 1726 following a fire. The organ was built by Wilhelm Schwarz of Ueberlingen in 1892.
Thirty years later the Hinterwerk was enclosed in a swell-box now removed in the course of the restoration.
Thankfully, the pipework survived complete.
By reversing a number of console alterations form the 1920s and taking the voicing back to its original quality,
we have preserved a unique survivor of a romantic organ in the Black Forest.
- A nice german articel about the voicing of the instrument. -
