The organ, built by Johann Heinrich Schäfer in 1866 with cone-chests, was historically listed as far back as 1960. As a result, it has been preserved without alteration to this day. Schäfer's instrument had mechanical blowing, with a stack of four bellows to raise the wind. This fell into disuse in the 1950s and was replaced by an unsuitable electric blower. We were honoured to be asked to restore this instrument to its original state and to bring the bellows back into use. They are now operated by ropes driven by an electronically controlled motor. In this way Schäfer's original winding system has been brought back to life. The voicing has also been freshened up in the spirit of the original builder.
