Jüchen, St. Jakobus der Ältere
Renovation of ther Wilbrand organ from 1997 | III/39 | 2026
The Jüchen parish church was built in the neo-Gothic style until 1912. As part of renovation work, the church was given a new gallery in 1999, on which the current organ was installed in 2008. It is an instrument assembled from older parts, which was built in 1997 by the Wilbrand company (Übach-Palenberg) for the Herz Jesu Church in Mönchengladbach-Pesch and relocated to Jüchen eleven years later by the same workshop. The majority of the Wilbrand organ, including the console, comes from a Seifert organ originally built in 1913 for St. Cyriakus Church in Krefeld-Hüls and modified several times with electro-pneumatic and partly fully electric slider windchests. Some reed stops were purchased from the former organ of the Laurentius Church in Odenkirchen during the new construction and seven new stops and a new case were added.
In 2026, we will clean and overhaul the organ. During this work, the electrics will be refurbished, the console overhauled and a new setter system installed to replace the previous combinations and cancellers. Finally, a compensating re-tuning is carried out.
