Organ Works

The Evangelical Church of Peace (Friedenskirche) in the Bonn district of Kessenich was consecrated in 1955. In 1957, the W. Peter company (Cologne) built an organ on the gallery of the modern central-plan church, designed both tonally and visually according to the aesthetics of the time. The three-manual instrument was equipped with slider chests and a combined action. In 2003, the organ underwent an initial refurbishment carried out by Orgelbau Lenter.

As part of the “Friedensorgel” project, we carried out a comprehensive renovation and tonal expansion of the instrument between 2023 and 2025. In the first construction phase in 2023, the mechanical key action was removed and replaced with an electric control system using pallet magnets and contactless key sensors. The mechanical action had proved structurally unsuitable and, despite an earlier overhaul, remained unreliable—especially when the manuals were coupled. All electrical systems and the console were revised or partly renewed. At the same time, the internal layout of the divisions was reorganized.

In the second construction phase 2025, further restoration work was carried out on the pipework and windchests. The wind system was also stabilised in a sustainable manner. The swell box was completely rebuilt in larger dimensions. In addition, four stops were added on auxiliary chests, further expanding the tonal possibilities of the instrument. The final voicing adjustment largely preserved the characteristic sound. Only in the pedal division were four stops revoiced (Subbass, Gedackt, Choralbass, and Posaune).
