Renovation of the Wilbrand organ | III/39 | 1997

In 2007, the parish church of St. Jakobus the Elder received its Wildbrand organ from 1997, which was relocated from Mönchengladbach. The three-manual organ with electric key and stop action has 39 stops and was conceived as a versatile instrument for liturgy, congregational singing, and concert use. After almost three decades of continuous use, a comprehensive renovation is now planned to secure the instrument technically, stabilize its sound, and ensure reliable operation for the years to come.

The project includes a thorough cleaning and revision of the entire organ. The pipework will be removed, cleaned, and repaired; the case and internal structure will be inspected and refurbished. The console, including manuals and pedalboard, will be overhauled and carefully re-regulated to ensure precise and comfortable playing.

The electrical system will be renewed and brought up to current safety standards. In addition, a modern combination system will be installed to allow flexible and efficient registration changes. The wind system will be stabilized, followed by final tonal adjustment and tuning of the organ.

With this renovation, the Wildbrand organ of St. Jakobus the Elder will be sustainably preserved for the future, maintaining its tonal and visual identity while gaining reliability, playing comfort, and musical presence.
