Müllheim, Stadtkirche

Renovation of the Bader organ (1964) | III/46 | 2023

The interior of the Evangelische Stadtkirche in Müllheim impresses with the play of light in the clear neo-Gothic architecture, whose linear movement is intensified in the contrast of red sandstone and white plastered surfaces. In 1964, the Bader company provided an organ for the main gallery in the design and tonal aesthetic of the time with a rich specification on electrically controlled slider chests.

In 1996 we completely restored the instrument. We made some changes to the stop list and re-voiced the pipework.

In 2023 we overhauled the instrument and refurbished the electrical system. The free-standing console was also revised and equipped with a new bench, lighting and a new music desk. In addition, the sharp keys were shortened and the pedal position changed to BDO standard in order to meet player ergonomics.

There are only minor changes in the specification: the Oboe 8' moved from the Positiv to the Schwellwerk, where it can be better used musically. The Positiv was given a Dulcian 8' instead. Finally, a full rebalancing of the voicing was carried out.
