Organ Works

The Catholic parish church of Bruder Klaus in Villingen-Schwenningen was built in the early 1960s. As the congregation grew, the wish for an independent pipe organ soon emerged. Planning began in 1968, and the organ was delivered in September 1970. The design and overall concept were developed by Hartwig Späth, and the voicing was carried out by Eddy Ottes.

After more than five decades of intensive use, a comprehensive overhaul is now planned. The project includes a thorough cleaning and revision of the entire organ. The pipework will be removed, cleaned, and repaired; the wind system will be overhauled; and the key action will be partially redesigned. The electrical system will also be updated to meet current safety standards.

Additional measures will improve accessibility for maintenance and help stabilize the climatic conditions in the organ area. The project will conclude with careful tonal refinement, including re-voicing and a complete tuning.

Through this revision, the organ of the Bruder Klaus parish church will be sustainably preserved for the future. It will remain a characteristic instrument of its period while gaining technical reliability, playing comfort, and tonal presence.
